Now THIS is simplicity.

First, I'll go ahead and agree with F-777. Making sure that the audio doesn't sound muddy is half the battle in mastering.

Also, I must again stress the simplicity. It's very reminiscent of 90s house and eurodance. I'm thinking about attempting to kick off a 90s EDM revival after I'm done with my school project. Drop me a line if you're interested.

OK
Thanks for review :)

Very interesting piece.

Old school house meets everything that is right about contemporary progressive.

DaveGuy responds:

Old School house? I don't understand

Not bad.

Sorry to deviate from the actual reviewing process, but your insight really strikes a happy nerve. I do burst a blood vessel at the sight of such comments.

It's really a situation of quantity vs. quality. I've noticed that although certain artists can crank out a dozen tunes in two weeks, the quality of composition and originality is really lacking, despite what the reviews might say.* Overall, I can say that my more lengthily-produced songs are more satisfying than songs that were rushed through, even if it brings me less attention.

So, in other words, do what gets people moving while pleasing your conscience at the same time.

*If you want me to go into fuller detail about this, feel free to ask.

meinsla responds:

I understand what you're saying, I'm just saying it's something I cannot do. I see no reason why this should strike a nerve with you.

Mastering, mastering, mastering.

You have the dirty side of dubstep, I'll give you that. But you also want to work on mastering to make sure that your sound doesn't sound like musical mud (in a bad way).

Let's put it this way: The aesthetic is filthy. Not the quality.

Pezmobile responds:

Ah, Yeah i only spent like an hour mastering this. Maybe I'll redo it and upload it again.

Thanks for reviewing!

Not bad in the least bit. Very Skream-esque.

However, the very first thing that I need to note is the lack of volume in the percussion. I personally believe that although filth is largely synth-based, the percussion does need to lead the synth, not hide behind it. If filth was an army, the synths would be the common soldiers while the percussion is the high-ranked officer, leading the charge.

Improve this above all else and expand on it.

4/5. Keep uploading music.

Psychedelic-Mind responds:

thankyou dude im very new to producing dubstep

Very nice...

...especially for a track with heavy chiptune influences.

Pardon me for sounding like a dick, but would you mind if I remixed this?

yeajimmiboi responds:

Course not mate I'd be honoured :D

One complaint.

Do you recognize the dirty wobble that answers to your formant wobble? You seem to have mixed out too much lower frequency from it. Is this because of the kick/bass combination clashing with the wobble? Tell me what program you use, and I might be able to give some advice.

mr-jazzman responds:

Yes, I am finally aware of it. I have a feeling that it's because I tried to revisit the old project and try some techniques that have been working recently for me...unfortunately, mixing new with old doesn't work so well. I'm gonna have to take a look at this more in depth. I have a feeling that either the stereo/compression/EQing did it in for me...or maybe even a mix of both. =\ We'll see.

Sick, perverted wobble...

...but it needs more. Consider adding some melodic lines in the mid-upper frequencies.

4/5. Sometimes filth needs to be pretty.

Breed responds:

I agree, I was going for a really grim and dark piece. Designing eerie higher end sounds actually takes a lot more finness. I am working on it though. Thanks for the review bud!

Cheers!

Almost perfect....

...but please do a better job of aligning the vocals. I'm assuming that they're supposed to be non-linear, but it still doesn't feel right.

4/5. Just work on the vocals and I'll definitely give this a download. Even consider making them linear.

DrumBug responds:

Thanks dude... they are meant to be none linear, but they might need a little bit of tweeking here and there.
thanks for listening mate.

Ah, yes.

This is the funk/neo-disco I told you about in a previous review. +1 to the setlist, my friend.

5/5.

durn responds:

Ya goddamned music snob, I knew you'd like this one. ;) Glad to hear this one sat well on your palette. :) Thanks for the review and the plays. :) If you want to download a higher quality version, go to my bandcamp page.

Yeah. I'm an EDM nerd surrounded by rock and country music. Don't ask how it happened. I'm slow to produce tracks as it is, and college isn't helping. So if you enjoy my work, please be patient.
